Preschool & Grade R

 The Preschool programme places particular emphasis on the following key areas of development:

 

Language and Communication – building confidence in listening, speaking, understanding, and expressing ideas clearly.

 

Early Mathematical Understanding – developing foundational numeracy concepts such as counting, patterns, sorting, matching, shapes, and number recognition.

 

Personal, Social, and Emotional Growth – fostering confidence, independence, resilience, empathy, and positive interaction with peers and adults.

 

Physical Development – promoting coordination, control, movement, and fine motor development through active and purposeful play.

 

Creativity and Imagination – encouraging self-expression, curiosity, exploration, and creative thinking through meaningful play and artistic experiences.

 

Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills – supporting early cognitive development through questioning, discovery, memory work, and hands-on learning.

 

Routine, Responsibility, and Independence – helping learners develop positive habits, self-care skills, and readiness for a structured learning environment.

 

Preparation for Formal Learning – laying the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive foundations necessary for successful progression into the Foundation Phase.

Grade School

Foundation Phase

The Foundation Phase places particular emphasis on the following focus areas:

Literacy – developing strong skills in listening, speaking, reading, phonics, comprehension, handwriting, and written expression.

Numeracy – building confidence and competence in number concepts, calculation, problem-solving, patterns, measurement, and mathematical reasoning.

Life Skills – supporting personal, social, emotional, physical, and creative development through meaningful learning experiences.

Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving – encouraging learners to ask questions, make connections, think independently, and engage actively with their learning.

Creativity and Expression – nurturing imagination, communication, and self-expression through arts, play-based experiences, and interactive classroom activities.

Character and Independence – promoting responsibility, self-discipline, resilience, respect, and a positive attitude towards learning and school life.

After-School Program

The After-School Programme places particular emphasis on the following key areas of academic support and learner development:

 

Homework Completion Support – ensuring that learners are given dedicated, supervised time and guidance to complete homework effectively and responsibly.

 

Language Development – promoting growth in reading, comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, oral expression, and written communication through focused tutoring and practice.

 

Mathematics Development – strengthening learners’ confidence and competence in numeracy, calculation, reasoning, and problem-solving through structured academic support.

 

Targeted Tutoring – providing purposeful intervention and reinforcement to consolidate learning, address academic gaps, and support steady learner progress.

 

Positive Study Habits – cultivating concentration, consistency, accountability, and independent learning behaviours that support achievement across subjects.

 

Learner Confidence and Progress – creating a supportive environment in which learners are encouraged to persevere, improve, and develop confidence in their academic abilities.
